Applications Ltd is the wholly owned trading subsidiary of Plymouth
Marine Laboratory (PML). A hallmark of PML’s science and technology
base has been its innovative and entrepreneurial nature. Several
small companies have spun out of PML over the years and many
innovative products have been developed which are now used
throughout the world.

interactions between the marine environment and people to sustain
marine ecosystems, their services and societal benefits.
An enduring characteristic of PML
research and outputs is the way in which the science is developed.
From its early multidisciplinary days 3 decades ago, PML has
continued to integrate scientific disciplines in an innovative and
creative way. PML’s science is now truly interdisciplinary in many
cases and the skills and expertise within its staff have been
gained in a range of scientific disciplines from biomedical science
to the biotechnology industry.
PML Applications Ltd, PML's wholly
owned trading subsidiary set up in 2002, has as its remit to help
PML broaden the application of its research products by having a
more focused interface with industry and other users; to increase
the use of PML’s research and products; to provide solutions, and
to help in the process of knowledge transfer through identifying
the next generation of innovation and products, nurturing and
developing these to the point of marketing and application.
PML is recognised internationally as
a dynamic, highly innovative, independent and impartial deliverer
of scientific research and advice on the marine environment. For
