PML Applications Ltd engages in activities
across a number of industry sectors, with customers varying at the
R&D and commercialisation stage and covering a broad spectrum
such as Research Councils, consultancies, healthcare and
pharmaceutical companies, large corporations, government,
environmental managers/bodies and the shipping industry.
Since being set up in 2002 by Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML),
PML Applications has concerned with the development and application
of outputs from science and technology carried out within PML as
well as developing its own more applied science and business
opportunities.
PML Applications Ltd is a CASE partner
and co-supervisor of 5 BBSRC PhD Case studentships. Case
studentships are ‘Collaborative Awards in Science and Engineering’
allowing students to receive high quality research training in
collaboration with an industrial partner. They are 4-year doctoral
training grants for top quality bioscience graduates to undertake
research (leading to a PhD) on a subject selected and supervised
jointly by academic and industrial partners. PML Applications
Ltd collaborates with a number of Universities supporting these
studentships including: Cambridge, York, Exeter
and Nottingham.
