Commercial Development
Larger scale commercial development
projects carry a large investment and risk by their proponents and
any delays in the design, planning and approval process can prove
costly. Environmental impact assessments are an important
factor in this process within which visual impact assessment (VIA)
are often a requirement.
Ongoing research provides comprehensive expertise in terms
of environmental risk assessment, e.g. relating to Carbon Capture
and Storage (CCS), through an integrated and multidisciplinary
approach, combining know-how on biogeochemical impacts, ecosystem
responses, modelling, risk assessment and monitoring.
Solar and wind development are 'green energy' but can leave a
large footprint on the landscape and be locally controversial.
3D visualisation, as provided by PML
Applications Ltd, can aid the development and approval of these
projects in the planning process by visually showing what a
development would realistically look like before it is built. It is
a superb and cost-effective tool for use in public consultation as
well as with regulatory authorities as part of environmental impact
assessments (EIAs). Further, it allows for the rapid evaluation of
design prototypes with regards to technical routing, layout design
and visual impacts. In comparison to the standard 'static'
photomontages historically used in EIAs, visualisations allow a
views from any point in the model on land or sea, ground or
air.
