PML Applications has investigated developing the concept of a
cabled observatory in the Western Channel and the application for
MeDON – Phase I was submitted in March 2009 to Interreg IVa
together with Ifremer, Oceanpolis, Ensieta, University of Plymouth
and the National Marine Aquarium. MeDON is a phased project, with
anticipated duration of 6 to 7 years. PML Applications is
coordinating the project.
Phase 1 will be completed by the end of 2012 with Phase II from
2013 to 2016 followed by an even more ambitious Phase III.
Industry partners have expressed interest and support for the
concept of MeDON as a test-bed for instruments and sensors.
